Frequently Asked Questions
The Answers You’re Looking For
Insurance & Payment
Is my insurance provider covered at your office?
We’re happy to accept most leading dental insurance plans, including Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, and others. For a complete list, head to /insurance or call (512) 858-6987.
What happens if I need dental care but don’t have insurance?
That’s perfectly fine. We offer Gloss Dental Membership plans beginning at $25/month, including exams, cleanings, routine X-rays, and savings on treatments.
Are there financing options available?
Yes. We work with dependable financing providers like CareCredit to offer payment options that fit your budget, subject to approval.
Checkups & Treatments
How often is it best to have a dental checkup?
A dental checkup every six months is a common guideline. Spotting oral health concerns early can lower treatment costs, though visit frequency is personalized based on your condition.
What is the proper number of times to brush my teeth daily?
The ADA’s guidance is to brush your teeth two or more times daily. After acidic consumption, waiting 30 minutes before brushing can help prevent enamel damage.
Choosing Between an Electric and Manual Toothbrush
Both toothbrush styles can be effective when used properly, though research suggests electric versions remove plaque more efficiently. Features from Sonicare and Oral-B help target areas that are harder to clean.
At what point should children begin visiting the dentist?
Dental visits for kids can start as early as age 3, or whenever they can comfortably sit for a checkup. Beginning early helps track development and encourages healthy habits.
What can I do to manage bad breath effectively?
Oral bacteria, plaque, and gum disease are frequent reasons for bad breath. Treatment options include routine cleanings, brushing the tongue, flossing with mouthwash, and reducing spicy food intake. If symptoms continue, a dental visit is advised.
How would you define a night guard?
Designed for nighttime use, a night guard is a custom-fitted, clear device that cushions the teeth, minimizes clenching, and helps relieve jaw stress.
How can I address gaps caused by missing teeth?
We offer a range of solutions, from fixed restorations like implants and bridges to removable appliances such as dentures and partials. Fixed options deliver the most natural function, and we’ll help determine the best fit for you.
How are dental implants designed to work?
Implant placement occurs in two steps. A titanium post is positioned within the jaw, and a crown, bridge, or denture is later attached. Implants are a dependable, long-term way to replace missing teeth naturally.
What symptoms should I watch for with gum disease?
Bleeding while brushing or flossing, bad breath that doesn’t go away, and sensitive or loose teeth can all signal gum disease. Regular exams help catch issues early, even when symptoms aren’t obvious.
Can dental X-rays be taken safely?
Yes. Modern digital dental X-rays produce extremely low radiation, well below everyday sun exposure, and we rely on proven safety protocols and updated equipment to keep you safe.
